The Faculty Resource Network (FRN) at New York University
is an award-winning professional development initiative that sponsors
programs for faculty members from a consortium of over 50 colleges
and universities. The Network hosts lectures, symposia, and intensive
seminars, all of which are designed to improve the quality of teaching
and learning at its member and affiliate institutions.
After more than two decades in operation, our mission remains
clear: to foster connection, collaboration, and collegiality through
a partnership
of colleges and universities dedicated to faculty development.
Our programs and events meet the professional development needs
of all
faculty at our member institutions.

The Faculty
Resource Network is a membership organization. Our fifty-three
member colleges and universities, together with faculty
participation from the Leadership Alliance, an associated consortium,
give the Network national visibility.
The primary
mission of the Faculty Resource Network is to serve faculty development
needs. At many
of our small to medium-sized member institutions,
opportunities for research, curricular advancement and faculty
development are limited. The majority of our member institutions,
including a
core group of 15 Historically Black Colleges and Universities
(HBCUs), are minority-serving institutions. Faculty at larger
institutions
may still feel the need for a supportive and collegial context
in which to pursue research and develop new curricular resources.
All
our member institutions are fully committed to training and developing
faculty in the context of the wide range of diversity that characterizes
the United States. Our core belief is that training educators
to be innovative teachers, well-informed scholars, and fully
rounded
intellectuals, enriches the educational experience and skills
of all their students. |

The Faculty Resource Network holds in high regard its relationships
with the many government and private organizations that have provided
integral funding over the past two decades. Our funding organizations
recognize our unique consortia model as one that alleviates the challenges
often faced in fostering cross-institutional collaboration. Additionally,
our funders appreciate that the partnerships created among faculty
participants lead to advancements in teaching, research, and scholarship. |
